Meade County
Meade County was formed on December 17, 1823 and became the 76th county of Kentucky. Parts of Breckinridge and Hardin Counties formed the county.

Squire Boone is the lesser known Boone. He explored the Kentucky wilderness with his brother Daniel and help establish many settlements, including Meade County.

Colonial Russ Carson Jr. of Family Tree Nuts and Montez McCammish, the founder of Meade County Local document the history of "The Monument to Confederate Dead". The 70-foot monument stood for over a century in Louisville, Kentucky, but due to controversy was disassembled and reconstructed at it's current location in Brandenburg, Kentucky. This video tells the history and facts of the monument, as well as it's story!
A Brief History of Meade County
Some of the first settlers of Meade County were Squire Boone and his son Enock. In 1780, Squire claimed 1,000 for Joesph Helm. Others began to settle in Buck Grove. Squire then claimed 6,000 acres for himself near Doe Run. The first permanent settlement was Wolf Creek.
